Sold to Ray, who is taking it to Sweet Home Alabama

This site represent many years of collecting information from f-body netizens across the country, spending way too much money on stuff, and way too much time laying on the garage floor.  When I ordered the car, a '96 Mystic Teal M6 Z28, back in the early summer of '96, I had no idea it would re-ignite my long-dormant compulsion to endlessly modify Detroit iron.  I blame the 'net in general, and Rob Glover in particular, for providing such easy and extensive access to people who share some inherent desire to turn these reasonably quick, if somewhat pudgy, sport coupes and convertibles into tire annihilating race machines.  I hope you find something worthwhile on this site.  The picture in the top frame is courtesy of Dave Mills.  The one below is from GM High tech Performance (Andrew Shear).  Most of the others are mine.

On the cover of GM High Tech Performance!

In the spring of 2005 I drove to Morro Bay, CA, for a 2-day photo shoot for GM High Tech Performance magazine.  Photographer Andrew Shear had some mighty impressive equipment and trick techniques.  Thanks to Andrew, writer Scott Parker, and editor Rick Jenson for making my year!

Who would guess such an ordinary car runs runs 9 second quarter miles?  Certainly not the Mustang drivers I've tangled with.  Or the surprised Viper GTS owner that had to watch me pull past him at a buck twenty.  While I've tried hard to keep the car's external appearance low profile, just about every bit of drivetrain and suspension has been tweaked.  Use the links in the navigation frame on the left to wander through the various systems that have been revised, replaced, or added.  Note that most pix are thumbnails, and clicking on them will give you a full-size version that better shows the detail.

A word about drag strip performance: the car has a full interior and everything works, including the a/c.  Nothing has been removed to make it lighter.  In fact, on street tires with a half tank of gas, it weighs 3821 pounds.  All 1/4 mile results are through the full exhaust system that exits at the rear bumper, including functional cats.  Drag prep consists of a tire change, 110 octane race gas to support a bit more ignition advance, pulling the front antiroll bar end links, and pumping up the passenger side AirLift bag.
