| Home | Koni Double Adjustable Shocks
Updated 6/12/99 OneThe Koni Double Adjustable shock is available from the factory on 1996 and later 4th generation F-bodies if the option 1LE is installed on the car. The 1LE option is essentially everything delete, stiffer front and rear springs, a larger front swaybar, stiffer suspension bushings. 1LE cars are rare. Approximately 49 were built in 1997, and about 100 were built in 1998. What makes these shocks special and so desierable is that the bump and rebound can be ajdusted independently. This allows the car to be more precisely tuned and setup. Most major suspension shops (Globalwest, Ground Control, et al) almost demand these double adjustable shocks. There are several other adjustable shocks available for the 4th generation F-body, such as the HAL shocks, there's also a company in Michigan who can convert the Bilstein shocks into double adjustable shocks. However, neither of of these shocks allow the bump and rebound to be set independently. Figure 1 shows all 4
shocks. The rear shocks are in the middle with the front
shocks. Figure 3 shows the compression setting on the top of the front shock (arrow #1). Compression is adjusted on the rear shock by twisting a knob at the top of shock rod (arrow #2) The shocks should be installed in a couple of weeks, I'll post more information and observations then.
